MF Doom as Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain
A joint project between MF Doom and Sound-Ink, it is
MF Doom's First and best release through the eyes of Viktor Vaughn (Victor Von Doom is Dr. Doom's real name in the Fantastic Four comics).
For a change Metal Fingers does none of the production on this album. Instead SoundInk's talented producers such as King Honey and RJD2 do all the work.
The production couldn't be much better and it does the Super Villain theme justice.
Set through the eyes of Viktor Vaughn the album ranges from violent, 'romantic', comedic and washed up celebrities as he travels from 2003 back in time and gets stuck in 1993, as explained in the track "Lactose and Lecithin":
At that cost deal he plotted the coordinance
Two thousand three rental tie upper west side more or less
This thing be buggin like a celly frontin
Now who the hell is honey wit the slug in her belly stuntin
You ain't have to tell V nothing
Trust him
It really ain't no time for discussion
He'll be back in ninty three press of a button and they busted in
The whole album contains no filler (even the skits are amussing and worthwhile) and is full of witty lyrics which will take a lot of plays to get.
For some reason one of my favourite lines is this from "G.M.C":
He's like a lego megalomaniac
who's into electronic and techno,
a real brainiac
It is easily one of Doom's best releases and should be picked up before it goes out of print.
